Established in 1959, SCST, Inc. is a professional engineering firm headquartered in San Diego with additional offices located in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee. We are a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE). SCST has a diverse background working on a variety of projects in both the public and private sectors with substantial federal experience across the entire South Pacific and Midwest regions. The firm also operates four geotechnical and materials laboratories throughout the Southwest, including one of the most complete and sophisticated labs in San Diego County. SCST is comprised of over 130 professionals who provide geotechnical engineering, environmental science & engineering, special inspection & materials testing, and facilities consulting services. Senior Geotechnial Engineer

The position of Senior Geotechnical Engineer, as it relates to SCST, reports directly to the Director of Engineering and Construction. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for growing the geotechnical business and coordinating services with internal and external staff. As part of the assigned duties you will perform geotechnical engineering design, project proposal and project management duties. You will be required to ensure high client service by providing constructible designs, meeting deadlines and creating clear communications with our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities
The role and responsibilities of Senior Geotechnical Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
Direct and prepare investigation and design level reports for a variety of projects including transportation, water, retail, hospitality, commercial, etc. 
Manage multiple projects which include developing project schedules, technical analysis, report preparation, and project financial management 
Work closely with other engineers, geologists, and engineering technicians 
Supervise and mentor professional staff
Participate in marketing efforts 
Maintain a strong and positive working relationships with clients and public agency personnel. Attend appropriate association/industry events to network and promote SCST
Other related duties and responsibilities as required 
 
Position Requirements 
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Geological Engineering, Master of Science degree preferred
Professional PE license required and ability to obtain GE license within 2 years 
8-15 years of related experience, 5 years as a registered, responsible charge project-level engineer
Experience in geotechnical analysis methods including development of shallow and deep foundation design recommendations, liquefaction analysis, slope stability analysis, ground improvement, wall design, pavement design, seismic site response, grading/earthwork, and soil testing
Excellent technical writing and engineering knowledge
Ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively
Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently 
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe

Senior Geologist

The position of Senior Geotechnical Engineer, as it relates to SCST, reports directly to the Director of Engineering and Construction. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for growing the geotechnical business and coordinating services with internal and external staff. Duties and Responsibilities
The role and responsibilities of Senior Geologist include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions, assess site access for subsurface explorations, and identify important site features
Monitor subsurface explorations consisting of exploratory borings, test pits, and observation/ monitoring wells for the purpose of collecting soil and bedrock samples and describing/ logging soil, bedrock, and groundwater conditions
Conduct soil sampling for geotechnical and/or environmental purposes
Evaluate rock slope hazards and design mitigation and stabilization systems
Monitor the construction of earthwork and foundation construction 
Provide construction monitoring/on-site engineering observation for geotechnical projects
Use various geotechnical and environmental instrumentation and equipment when necessary
Perform historical site review and review applicable regulations, as appropriate
Prepare written reports and cost estimates
Manage multiple projects which include: developing project schedules, plan staffing needs for projects, technical analysis, report preparation, and project financial management 
 
Position Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Master of Science degree in related fields preferred

Client Services Manager - LA/OC

The position of Client Services Manager/Business Developer, as it relates to SCST, reports directly to the SVP of Client Services. The purpose of the role is to assist the company in identifying opportunities and reaching new clients to maintain an invariable workflow and to meet or exceed individually established sales goals.  Client Service Managers/Business Developers are responsible for initiating and coordinating meetings between professional staff and potential clients, cultivating new and existing relationships, researching target markets to monitor economics and identify key people, trends and prospective projects.   
 
Business Developers are accountable for calendaring client appointments, professional industry events, cold calls, follow-up and lead tracking.  Business Developers will also be accountable for self-direction, tact, judiciousness and their ability to work in a team environment. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
The role and responsibilities of a Client Service Manager/Business Developer include, but are not limited to the following: 
Development of relationships with potential clients throughout Los Angeles and Orange County
The position requires occasional travel outside the LA/OC area
Initiate and arrange meetings with potential clients and teaming partners
Initiate cold calls to introduce our firm, its services and capabilities
Have a general knowledge of current projects and existing contracts
Attendance at industry associations and events to develop potential business opportunities
Collaborate with firm’s technical staff to create strategies in securing new clients and projects
Identify relevant RFQ/RFP’s and review for input on go/no go decisions
Accurate and efficient information provided on Project Information Forms and Zoho CRM
Promote the firm and always create an atmosphere where sales can prosper
Build and maintain a diverse network of contacts within the A/E/C industry
Support engineers/professional staff by arranging technical discussions with potentially new and existing clients
Respond to leads and maintain regular lines of communication with prospects
Prepare regular updates regarding the status of project opportunities and business development activity
Communicate and work with SVP of Client Services and Director of Marketing to ensure business development and sales goals are being met
 
Position Requirements
7-15 years experience in marketing, business development, or sales (preferably within the design & construction industry)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
Ability to understand and correctly follow a variety of instructions
Demonstrated ability to present professional services to technical prospects
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures
Prior use of Zoho CRM preferred

Soils Technician - San Diego, Inland Empire, LA/OC, Selma

Currently, we are seeking Soils Technicians with 5 years recent field experience for our San Diego, Inland Empire, LA/OC and Selma locations. Essential duties include: Field observation and testing of mass grading, underground utilities installation and backfill, asphalt/concrete placement and testing. Certifications may include: NICET, ACI and Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauges. Soils lab experience is a plus.
