SCS&T is a well-established engineering and consulting firm seeking candidates with specialized expertise in the areas of geotechnical engineering, special inspection and materials testing. Candidates with Caltrans experience or certifications are encouraged to apply.
 
Currently seeking candidates for the following position:
 
Staff Engineer (Geotechnical)
Perform earthwork, foundation, shoring and MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earthen) wall observation. Conduct sub-surface and pavement distress investigations. Prepare DEH (Department of Environment and Health) boring well permits, encroachment permits and traffic control plans. Conduct field percolation/filtration testing and foundation bearing/slope stability assessments. Conduct laboratory tests of isotropic-controlled hydraulic conductivity, geo-matrix strength evaluation and constant/variable-head permeability. Carry out design/analysis of pavement section, deep foundation axial compression capacity, settlement, and load-deflection, using computer-assisted software such as LPILE, ALLPILE, Comp264P. Perform engineering calculation of slope stability using finite element method based computer-assisted software such as GSTABL7, GeoSlope. Perform risk assessment of liquefaction susceptibility and liquefaction-introduced lateral spreading through MLR (Multiple Linear Regression)-based database. Prepare as-graded, pile driving observation and geotechnical investigation reports. Review civil and foundation plans and reports.
