Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical Engineering involves the investigation of existing subsurface conditions and materials and determines the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties that are relevant to a particular project. Investigating and compiling data obtained from soil and rock samples allows the potential risks posed by existing site conditions to be assessed, and allows the specifications and requirements for structures and earthworks to be built.

Engineering Geology

Engineering Geology applies geologic sciences to engineering practice for the purpose of assuring that geologic factors affecting the location, design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineering works are recognized and adequately provided for.

Materials Testing

Material Testing services test, analyze, and certify a wide range of materials for purity, chemical compatibility, and environmental impact. SCS&T's state-of-the-art, full services laboratory provides the following services:

Forensic Investigation

SCS&T provides investigative services to document issues encountered either during the construction process or post-construction utilizing, destructive or non-destructive testing methods. Litigation support services are also available.

  • Roof Surveys
  • Water Instrusion & Leaks
  • Slab Moisture
  • Cracked Slabs
  • Soil Settlement & Distressed Foundations
  • Landslide & Sinkhole Investigations

Special Inspection

SCS&T’s licensed inspectors help to assure that the correct procedures are in compliance with the applicable codes, plans, and specifications. Special Inspection can help ensure that no shortcuts are taken during construction that may diminish the quality of a project. Inspection can be provided on a periodic or continuous basis, depending on project and client needs.

SCS&T’s team of special inspectors provides various on-site and shop inspection services, which include the following:

Third Party QA/QC Services

The purpose of third party observation and documentation is to provide detailed written and photographic records of installation and placement of materials used during the construction process. An accurate and reliable observation inventory record, contributes to the overall quality and success of your project. This documentation can be particularly helpful when underground or hidden elements of construction come into question, especially when verification testing or observation would require costly and destructive demolition and replacement work.
