Geotechnical Drafter (San Diego)

If you are a Drafter looking for an opportunity in the Geotechnical practice, read on.
What You Will Be Doing
At SCST, an Atlas Company, drafters lead in figure and/or exhibit drafting in AutoCAD, this will include building maps of geotechnical investigations as well as project and report preparation assistance. Drafting being done is not traditional civil drafting. We make exhibits using CAD with drafting done by third parties.
What You Need for This Position

  • Proficient using AutoCAD and or Civil 3D a must

What You Will Be Doing
Southwest Geophysics, LLC (subsidiary of SCST, LLC, an Atlas Company) is a successful local geophysical consulting firm which has been providing advanced methods for public and private engineering, construction, and environmental projects since 2004. As a member of our team, you will embody our client-focused philosophy and our commitment to delivering a high-quality service. 
As a Staff Field Geophysicist, you will be supporting a variety of projects by collecting and processing field data, creating maps and figures, and preparing field reports for geophysical evaluations that include: Rippability and Depth to Bedrock Studies, Fault and Fracture Mapping, Vibration Monitoring, Groundwater Studies, Site Characterization, Archeology Studies, Utility Mapping, UXO Detection, Concrete and Pavement Condition Surveys, Void or Sinkhole Detection, UST Detection Studies, Mapping Leachate Plumes, Locating Buried Drums, Landfill Delineation, Corrosion Studies, Rebar Detection, and Concrete Integrity assessments.
What You Need for this Position
  • Bachelors of Science in Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Studies or related field (applicants near the completion of their degree will also be considered).
  • Other considerations:
    • Ability to spend long hours in the field in various terrain and weather conditions.
    • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time for projects throughout Southern California, Northern California, Arizona & Nevada.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Detail oriented.

Soils Technician/LA Grading Inspector

If you are a Soils Technician with construction experience, seeking an opportunity to be fully engaged in all facets of the construction profession, please read on!
What You Will Be Doing
At SCST, our Soils Technicians earns and maintains client satisfaction by ensuring construction jobs are done right. Our Inspectors do field observation and testing of mass grading, underground utilities installation and backfill, asphalt/concrete placement and testing. Therefore, successful candidates must also have a passion getting in the dirt and judging its behavior!
OTHER Functions
  • Observation of every aspect of grading and backfill operations, including density testing of fill. 
  • Verification and plotting of all removals, keyways, buttresses, erosion control and fill placement. 
  • Use of geo-synthetic materials and drainage systems.   
  • Preparing written reports.
  • Reviewing field dailies for conformance with project and company standards and respond to reports of nonconformance.
What You Need for this Position
Certifications in:
  • LA Deputy Grading Inspector Certification required (1 year)
  • ACI Grade I
  • CPN Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauges
