What You Will Be Doing
Southwest Geophysics, LLC (subsidiary of SCST, LLC an Atlas Technical Consulting Company) is a successful local geophysical consulting firm which has been providing advanced methods for public and private engineering, construction, and environmental projects since 2004.  As a member of our team, you will embody our client-focused philosophy and our commitment to delivering a high-quality service. 
 
As a Staff Field Geophysicist, you will be supporting a variety of projects by collecting and processing field data, creating maps and figures, and preparing field reports for geophysical evaluations that include: Rippability and Depth to Bedrock Studies, Fault and Fracture Mapping, Vibration Monitoring, Groundwater Studies, Site Characterization, Archeology Studies, Utility Mapping, UXO Detection, Concrete and Pavement Condition Surveys, Void or Sinkhole Detection, UST Detection Studies, Mapping Leachate Plumes, Locating Buried Drums, Landfill Delineation, Corrosion Studies, Rebar Detection, and Concrete Integrity assessments.
 
What You Need For This Position
Bachelors of Science in Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Studies or related field (applicants near the completion of their degree will also be considered).
Other considerations:
      o Ability to spend long hours in the field in various terrain and weather conditions.
      o Willingness to travel for extended periods of time for projects throughout Southern California, Northern     California, Arizona & Nevada.
      o Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
      o Strong independent work ethic and decision-making skills.
      o Detail oriented.
      o Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
      o Experience with AutoCAD, Surfer, Adobe, SeisOpt a plus.
      o Professional license, OSHA & MSHA training a plus.

What You Will Be Doing
At SCST, our Project Engineers earn and maintain client satisfaction by managing and executing geotechnical field investigations and construction materials testing projects. By supporting a wide range of geotechnical projects, the Project Engineer embodies our client-focused philosophy and our commitment to delivering high quality work. This role is comprised of varied geotechnical engineering decisions, technical and financial management, and geotechnical field work. Therefore, successful candidates must also have a passion for getting in the dirt and judging its behavior!
 
Other Functions
Interacting with clients, stakeholders, and contractors during various phases of a project
Managing multiple projects which include developing project schedules, permitting, exploration programs, technical analysis modeling and calculations, report preparation, and project financial management
Preparing written reports and cost proposals
Preparing change orders and budget notifications
Organizing staff on various client tasks in accordance with proposed scope
Preparing reports of material laboratory tests for engineer’s signature
Reviewing field dailies for conformance with project and company standards and respond to reports of non‐conformance
Authorizing, request and review interim and verified reports upon client’s request
 
Other Functions
Develops new techniques and/or improved processes
Leads project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments
Represents the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments
 
What You Need for this Position
Bachelors of Science or Masters in Civil Engineering
3 to 5 Years of experience in geotechnical related field
• A path towards a PE license with a GE License goal
• Strong fundamentals in Geotechnical Engineering
• Strong independent work ethic and decision-making skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient using Microsoft word and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam
