Administrative Assistant - Contracts Administration & Proposal Editing (San Diego)

What You Will Be Doing:

At SCST, an Atlas Company, the Administrative Assistant Contracts and Editing, reports directly to the Director of Engineering and will perform administrative and office support and activities for multiple supervisors. Duties include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating and using spreadsheets, helping with the administration of contracts, technical report review, and filing. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.


  • Manage front desk - answer calls, direct visitors, accept mail and parcels
  • Help with the signing and submittal of contracts, including all required documents
  • Manage the formatting of technical reports and other company documents to maintain uniformity
  • Review, proofread and edit technical reports and change orders
  • Maintain organized system of physical and electronic records with regards to technical and contract documents

What You Need For This Position:

  • Some relevant post high-school qualification or coursework
  • Knowledge or experience as a contractors administrator (highly desired)
  • Able to prioritize, organize, and use time efficiently
  • Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and proofreading
  • Must be consistently detail-oriented
  • Be able to work and problem-solve under pressure and deadlines
  • Have some experience as a contract administrator (highly desirable)
  • Have a very good understanding of computers and Microsoft Suite of software

Soils Technician (San Diego)

If you are a Soils Technician with a minimum of 3 years construction experience, seeking an opportunity to be fully engaged in all facets of the construction profession, please read on!

What You Will Be Doing:

At SCST, LLC, an Atlas Company, our Soils Technicians earns and maintains client satisfaction by ensuring construction jobs are done right. Our Inspectors do field observation and testing of mass grading, underground utilities installation and backfill, asphalt/concrete placement and testing. Therefore, successful candidates must also have a passion getting in the dirt and judging its behavior!

Other Functions:

  • Observation of every aspect of grading and backfill operations, including density testing of fill.
  • Verification and plotting of all removals, keyways, buttresses, erosion control and fill placement.
  • Use of geo-synthetic materials and drainage systems.  
  • Preparing written reports.
  • Reviewing field dailies for conformance with project and company standards and respond to reports of nonconformance.

  • ACI Grade I
  • CPN Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauges

Geotechnical Project Geologist (San Diego)

If you are an engineering geologist interested in the detailed technical analysis of earth material and the risk assessment of geological hazards to ensure geological factors affecting engineering works are identified and dealt with, read on!

What You Will Be Doing:

At SCST, the Engineering Geologist will assess the integrity of soil, rock, groundwater and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects. You will be working under the Chief Geologist and working with five staff level geologists. You will advise on procedures required for such projects and the suitability of appropriate construction materials. Therefore, successful candidates must have a passion getting in the dirt and judging its behavior!

Other Functions:

  • Reviewing maps and aerial photographs to advise on site selection
  • Assisting with the design of built structures, using specialized computer software or calculations
  • Collecting and collating data and producing reports
  • Overseeing the progress of specific contracts
  • Planning detailed field investigations by drilling and analyzing samples of deposits/bedrock
  • Geologic mapping and development of geologic models
  • Preparing proposals
  • Supervising site and ground investigations
  • Conducting visits to new project sites
  • Advising on and testing a range of construction materials, for example sand, gravel, bricks and clay
  • Making recommendations on the proposed use of a site and providing information
  • advising on problems such as subsidence
  • Managing staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and contractors
  • Attending professional conferences and representing the company or organization at other events to bring in new contracts

What You Need For This Position:

  • BS in Geology, MS in Geology highly desired
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience as a project geologist
  • Professional Geologist (PG) registered with the State of California, Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) registration a plus but not required or should be working toward CEG registration
  • Strong independent work ethic and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel, Bluebeam, Adobe and Cloud-based applications, to mention a few
